After four All India Congresses of Obstetrics and Gynaecology which were then held by the Societies of Ahmedabad, Bengal, Bombay, Madras and Punjab, it was after the fifth Congress in Madras on 6th January 1950 that it was resolved to form a Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India. This was to be a national organization of and for the Obstetricians and gynaecologists of India, and has been growing since then from strength to strength in terms of its membership (221 societies), research and educational activities and promotion of services aimed to better the health of women and children in the country.

The Federation's academic wing, the Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynecology further promotes education, research and training in the subject. The Federation also publishes a bimonthly Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology where research articles as well as case reports of academic interest from all over the country are reported. It also organizes many academic activities throughout the year, in the designated areas of its twenty seven subspecialty committees.

The major Federation events are the four regional Youth Conferences, the YUVA FOGSI, held to promote and encourage young talent, and the annual All India Conference of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AICOG) held in the months of January or February of each year. It is the pride and privilege of each of its constituent member societies to be given the opportunity to host the AICOG under the aegis of FOGSI.

In 2015, the AICOG will be held in Chennai, the third time that the city is privileged to host this prestigious event where Obstetricians and Gynecologists from every corner of the country converge to interact with each other, share professional experiences and imbibe knowledge and information from both national and international speakers in the field.

We welcome you to Chennai to participate in AICOG 2015!
